What we’ve learned so far regarding the shooting at the German shopping mall.
Shots were reported in different location through the mall according to witnesses that managed to get out in time. There was a shooting that took place inside a McDonald’s across from the Olympia shopping mall.
It has not yet been confirmed if this is a terrorist act or if someone is working on their own but 8 people have been reported dead and several wounded. Though local police say they suspect it is.
Witnesses seen people running from the scene of where the shooting to place. Witnesses also reported seeing three different people with firearms.
“Many shots were fired, I can’t say how many but it’s been a lot,” an employee at the mall who asked not to be identified told Reuters, saying that staff were still hiding in the storage rooms.
Everybody is urged to stay at home or seek a safe place since the gun men are still on the loose and have fled into the subway to escape. Public transportation service in Munich has been canceled at this time to ensure safety for all.
The attack was the third major act of violence against civilian targets to take place in Western Europe in eight days according to Huffington Post. The whole world is now on alert with terrorism affecting every country now.
This week, a teenager who said he was inspired by ISIS stabbed passengers on a German train before police shot him dead.
We’re reminded about the location; the shopping mall where the shooting took place is located in what was the Olympic Village for the 1972 Munich Olympics, during which 11 Israeli athletes were taken hostage and killed along with a German policeman according to ABC News.
